Description
The bay leaf tree, scientifically known as Laurus nobilis and also called sweet bay or bay laurel, is a popular aromatic evergreen tree native to the Mediterranean region. Its glossy green leaves are widely used fresh or dried to flavor soups, stews, and meats.
The tree can grow very tall, but can be trimmed. It can handle full sun to partial shade, 4 to 6 hours of direct light daily.
The tree requires loose, well-draining soil to prevent root rot. Grows outdoors in USDA Zones 8–11, but can be potted and brought indoors during freezing winters in colder zone.

Water daily when the tree is small. Water every other day for medium tree.

Fertilizer: every 3 months with 10-10-10 or 12-8-6. Don't add fertilizer when first planting it in the ground or transplanting to the bigger pots.
