    Thompson Red is an avocado from Jamaica, which develops a bright crimson-red color to the skin when ripe. The fruit is large, of great eating quality, buttery flesh with a mild, nutty, and slightly sweet flavor. 

    Thompson Red avocado is a type B avocado and usually is harvested from September through November. In some regions, it can run as late as December. You need to wait to pick until the fruit develops its signature bright crimson-red to maroon skin, then allow it to ripen on kitchen counter. 

    It thrives in USDA Zones 9B through 11 and can survive brief temperature dips between 28°F and 30°F.

    Care instruction:

    • Sunlight: Requires full sun to partial shade.

    • Soil: Thrives in well-draining, sandy, or loamy soil. Avocados cannot tolerate waterlogged or flooded conditions.

    • Watering: Needs deep, infrequent watering. Allow the top few inches of soil to dry out between waterings
