Description
Ugly Betty mango is a distinctive Florida cultivar known for its bumpy, uneven exterior, fiberless sweet flesh, and lineage from breeder Gary Zill. It features a rich, spicy sweetness similar to its parent variety, the Carrie mango.
Ugly Betty mango features an irregular, bumpy, and lumpy surface with a furrowed top, earning it the humorous "Ugly Betty" name. The skin turns yellow-green or yellow at maturity, sometimes with a light pink or red blush.
The fruits are big, typically weighing between 1 to 1.5 lbs (and occasionally up to nearly 2–3 lbs). It's a mid-season, ripening primarily from June through July or early August.
