    The 'Alano' sapodilla is a top-tier, heavy-producting fruit tree originatiing from Thailand that yields oval-shaped, sweet fruit with a fine pear-like texture and brown-sugar flavor. It is widely considered one of the best-tasting and most reliable sapodilla varieties available.

    It tastes like a blend of brown sugar, pear, and malt with a smooth, melt-in-your-mouth feel. The trees heavy crops typically ripen from November through June, with activity concentrated in spring and summer.

    The tree semi-compact and smaller-growing than standard sapodilla types, easily managed at 12 to 15 feet tall with pruning.

    Thrives in USDA Zones 9–12; drought, wind, and salt-tolerant once established.

    Care instruction:

    • Full-sun required

    • Water daily when the tree is small. Water every other day for medium tree.

    • Fertilizer: every 3 months with 10-10-10 or 12-8-6. Don't add fertilizer when first planting it in the ground or transplanting to the bigger pots. 

    • Soil: well-drained with good potting soil or organic soil.
